The petition challenges a Varanasi court’s order related to an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey. The case involves ongoing disputes over the historical mosque and its origins.
The Supreme Court deferred its hearing on petitions challenging the Centre’s ban on the BBC documentary “India: The Modi Question” until January 2025. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta assured the court that a counter affidavit would be submitted within two weeks. The government labeled the documentary as biased propaganda.

Swaminathan’s failure to consult his bench partner and refusal to allow the State to file a counter affidavit led Jayachandran to declare Swaminathan’s opinion invalid. Swaminathan’s explanations were deemed inadequate.
Today (30th April): Former Tamil Nadu Minister V. Senthil Balaji’s court remand has been extended until June 4th in connection with a money laundering case related to a cash-for-jobs scam during his tenure as Transport Minister. The court has instructed the verification of original bank records. Balaji’s bail plea has faced rejections, and the Supreme Court is set to hear the case.
