The Supreme Court has asked the Telangana Assembly Speaker to submit a status report within two weeks on disqualification pleas against BRS MLAs who defected to Congress. The court warned that this is the final opportunity and non-compliance will invite serious consequences.
Today, On 31st July, Supreme Court has ordered the Telangana Speaker to complete the disqualification proceedings against 10 BRS MLAs within three months, stating, “No MLA should be allowed to delay the process. The Speaker must draw adverse inferences if needed.”
A Lucknow court dismissed a defamation case against CM Yogi Adityanath, stating his remarks in the Legislative Council are protected under Article 194. The court also ruled the complainant had no legal standing.
