Gujarat High Court lawyers returned to work after GHCAA delegation met CJI BR Gavai, urging reconsideration of Justice Sandeep Bhatt’s transfer to Madhya Pradesh HC. The association called the decision “unfortunate” and praised Justice Bhatt as “honest and hardworking.”
NEW DELHI: A Supreme Court-appointed three-member inquiry panel is investigating claims about a large amount of cash allegedly found at the residence of Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma. The panel met Delhi Fire Services Chief Atul Garg on Thursday as part of its probe. According to sources, Atul Garg appeared before the committee at Haryana State Guest House in Chanakyapuri and recorded his statement regarding the alleged incident. However, he has completely denied any claims about firefighters discovering cash at Justice Varma’s house.
The Supreme Court is set to hear a petition seeking an FIR against Justice Yashwant Varma amid cash controversy allegations. Advocate Mathews Nedumpara argues for a criminal case instead of a transfer, challenging prior rulings that protect judges from such inquiries. Justice Varma denies allegations, claiming a conspiracy against him.
