A Delhi court criticised the police for failing to file key reports in the rape case of a four-year-old girl who suffered severe injuries. The court ordered immediate Rs 5 lakh interim compensation, calling the child’s suffering “beyond imagination.”
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has made it clear that victims of sexual assault, especially children, have their own rights under the law. These rights cannot be ignored just because their parents have decided to settle their issues privately. The order was recently passed by a bench led by Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma. The judge stressed that the legal system gives top priority to the rights of children.
Today (15th March):Former Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa has been charged under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl during a meeting on February 2. The charges fall under sections 8 of POCSO and 354 A. Yediyurappa has denied the allegations and is cooperating with the police. The case is under investigation, and further details are awaited.
