The Supreme Court has asked former Telangana intelligence officer T Prabhakar Rao to cooperate in the ongoing illegal phone tapping trial. The case involves surveillance of politicians, journalists, and even High Court judges during the BRS Government’s tenure.
Hyderabad, March 19: The Telangana High Court has quashed an FIR filed in March 2020 against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for allegedly flying a drone without permission. The case, which was registered at Narsingi police station, accused him of using a drone to take pictures of a building in Janwada.
The Supreme Court directed the Telangana government to replace Justice L. Narasimha Reddy following disapproval of his public statements. The former Chief Justice’s declaration of his intent to probe led to criticism and a request for a different judge. This decision came during a hearing of a petition filed by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.
K Chandrasekhar Rao’s government in Telangana allegedly tapped the phones of a high court judge, his wife, and other individuals, including politicians and mediapersons, in violation of laws. Hyderabad police commissioner K Srinivas Reddy submitted a detailed affidavit mentioning the unauthorized interception of call and IP details, leading to a chargesheet against six accused.
