The Delhi Assembly Secretariat told the High Court that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia’s challenge to the Privileges Committee summons in the ‘Phansi Ghar’ case is premature. It said the panel is only verifying facts and no breach of privilege or contempt proceedings have been initiated yet.
Today(on 31st July), The Madras High Court has reinstated breach of privilege proceedings against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and 17 DMK MLAs for their 2017 Assembly protest involving banned gutkha. The court overturned a prior stay, emphasizing that the issues cannot be ignored due to a change in government.
The Supreme Court today extended the stay on notices summoning West Bengal officials until July 19 due to the unavailability of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. The notices were related to an alleged breach of privilege by them regarding their response to a complaint filed by a BJP MP. The court will continue addressing the plea on July 19.
