Today, On 13th November, The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Bar Council of India on a petition challenging rules that bar office bearers of district and High Court bar associations from contesting State Bar Council elections, seeking responses from BCI and UP Bar Council.
The Bar Council of India has urged Delhi bar associations to withdraw their indefinite strike from September 8, stressing that most concerns over police witness video conferencing have already been addressed. BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra said repeated strikes harm litigants and weaken the bar’s credibility.
