A Division Bench of the Delhi High Court has granted bail to Mohd. Shahzad Kamal, accused by the NIA under the UAPA of channelling funds from Saudi Arabia to an alleged terror module linked to an ISIS affiliate, setting aside the Special Court’s May 2024 refusal. He has been in custody since August 31, 2021. The detailed order is awaited and the allegations are untested.
NEW DELHI: A senior lawyer expressed deep shock and sadness in the Delhi High Court on Friday over reports of a massive cash recovery from the home of Justice Yashwant Varma. The judge did not attend court proceedings that day. The issue was mentioned before a bench led by Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela. Senior advocate Arun Bhardwaj requested that steps be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
