The Delhi High Court has made permanent its order stopping a YouTube channel from impersonating Anjana Om Kashyap through deepfake-style videos. The Court said such fake channels can cause serious harm and spread misinformation.
A Lucknow court has ordered a case against anchor Anjana Om Kashyap and Aaj Tak over a show on Partition, accused of promoting communal discord. The complaint was filed by retired IPS officer Amitabh Thakur under BNS Sections 196 and 197.
Today, 20th June, The Delhi High Court ordered the takedown of a deepfake YouTube channel impersonating journalist Anjana Om Kashyap, stating that “fake pages misusing her reputation are illegal” and violate her goodwill, image, and personality rights.
