The Supreme Court has directed NALSA to inspect and report on the closure of shelters at Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan due to Delhi Metro work. Over 1,000 homeless people may be displaced, raising concerns about relocation and basic facilities.
Today, On 4th July, Just two days after ordering an inspection, the Delhi High Court slammed the Jal Board for making citizens drink “sewage mixed water,” questioning why action wasn’t taken until someone knocked on the doors of the court.
Residents in East Delhi have reported contaminated, black water since June 12. The Delhi High Court mandated the Delhi Jal Board to inspect affected areas and ensure clean drinking water is supplied. Failure to resolve this issue poses serious health risks, prompting further hearings scheduled for July 5.
