Karnataka High Court has granted a stay on criminal cases against Arnab Goswami and Amit Malviya, who faced accusations of falsely claiming the Congress established an office in Turkey. The court is reviewing their applications to halt the proceedings, which the Congress party alleges are aimed at undermining its reputation and public trust.
NEW DELHI: CJI Sanjiv Khanna took the matter very seriously and convened a collegium meeting. He remarked, “बहुत गंभीर” (“very serious”) and suggested that Justice Verma should be transferred. According to reports, Justice Yashwant Verma was not at home when a fire broke out at his residence. His wife immediately called the fire brigade. While extinguishing the fire, firefighters stumbled upon stacks of currency notes in one of the rooms. The police and Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna were informed about the incident.

On Friday(7th June),The High Court of Karnataka has issued notices to Bengaluru’s High Grounds police and Ramesh Babu of KPCC following a petition by BJP’s J.P. Nadda and Amit Malviya. The notices come amidst their legal challenge against an FIR filed on May 5, 2024, related to a controversial post on Twitter.
Today, On 15th May, The Calcutta High Court instructed police to hold off on taking action against BJP’s Amit Malviya regarding his controversial Saraswati Puja tweet. The court’s intervention provides temporary relief as it assesses whether the tweet incited communal animosity. Malviya faces charges under Sections 153A and 505 of the IPC for promoting communal enmity and public mischief.
The Calcutta High Court provided relief to BJP’s IT Cell Chief, Amit Malviya, over alleged incitement of communal tensions. The court found a procedural error in the police notice issued to Malviya and directed future interrogations to be conducted via video conference with a 48-hour notice.
