The Supreme Court condemned allegations made against Delhi High Court judges after suspension of Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s life sentence in the Unnao rape case, warning against politicising judicial decisions. The apex court stayed the HC order and stressed that attempts to malign judges must be firmly rejected.
CJI Surya Kant’s strong remarks come amid rising public attacks on judges over courtroom observations. Emphasizing judicial independence, he warned that attempts to intimidate or mischaracterize judges will not be tolerated, reaffirming the judiciary’s authority and integrity.
Today, On 11th August, The Supreme Court criticised the growing “trend among lawyers to critique judges of HC and trial courts,” noting that in political cases, there is often an assumption that justice cannot be delivered in the High Court.
