The Supreme Court of India has invalidated a Madhya Pradesh order allowing IAS officers to assess IFS officers’ performance reports, deeming it “contemptuous.” This ruling reaffirms the autonomy of All India Services, emphasizing that roles must adhere to legal frameworks, potentially influencing practices in other states as well.
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday, 5th March, pointed out an ongoing conflict between officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Forest Service (IFS). The Court observed that IAS officers often try to assert their dominance over IPS and IFS officers, which has led to tension between these services.
Today, On 15th January, The Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest to former IAS trainee Puja Khedkar. She is accused of fraudulently using reservation benefits meant for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities to pass the UPSC exam. Khedkar has denied the charges, and the court’s order allows her temporary relief. The case is under further investigation.
