The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will approach the Supreme Court after receiving no bids for the Indian Super League’s (ISL) commercial rights. Justice (Retd.) L. Nageswara Rao will submit a report to the Court as the “next step in the process.”

The Supreme Court assured it would go the “extra mile” to finalise AIFF’s draft constitution and strengthen Indian football. It also pressed AIFF and FSDL to resolve the ISL deadlock threatening clubs’ survival.
The Supreme Court will continue hearing the AIFF Constitution case, focusing on contract compliance and related disputes. The next hearing is scheduled for 28th August at 1:15 PM, as parties prepare to address financial and logistical issues.
The Supreme Court will hear on August 22 the AIFF–FSDL row over non-renewal of contracts impacting 11 ISL clubs. The standoff has put the 2025-26 season and Indian football’s future at risk.

Today, On 6th January, Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud recused himself from hearing petitions related to the constitutions of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The cases involve crucial issues concerning the governance and structure of these sports bodies. The CJI cited potential conflict of interest or personal reasons for stepping aside. A new bench will now be assigned to handle the matter.
The Delhi High Court set aside a Rs. 12.9 crore penalty imposed on footballer Anwar Ali, East Bengal FC, and Delhi FC by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The court criticized AIFF for lack of detailed reasoning and emphasized the need for transparent and well-founded actions. The case will be reheard.
Today(on 6th May), BJP leader and AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey has moved to withdraw his 2021 Maniktala assembly constituency election petition in West Bengal, informing the Supreme Court. He has filed the withdrawal application in the Calcutta High Court.
The Supreme Court Today (April 5th) agreed to review the pleas regarding the All India Football Federation and the finalisation of its constitution, which was drafted by former SC Justice L Nageswara Rao. CJI D Y Chandrachud acknowledged the arguments of Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan, acting as an amicus curiae, stressing the importance of hearing the pleas.
