A Bengaluru court has reserved its decision till September 9 on petitions seeking actor Darshan’s transfer to Ballari Central Jail and his request for basic jail facilities. The case is linked to the high-profile Renukaswamy murder investigation.
Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, the main accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, has approached the Karnataka High Court after the police temporarily suspended his arms license. The suspension came soon after he was granted bail, citing possible misuse of the firearm. Darshan argues that his celebrity status puts him at risk, and his arms license is crucial for his and his family’s safety. He has now requested the court to revoke the suspension order, but the case is yet to be heard.
The city police have moved the Supreme Court, challenging the Karnataka High Court’s decision to grant bail to actor Darshan and others accused of murdering his fan, Renukaswamy, citing procedural lapses in arrest grounds. The police argue that witness statements differ naturally and should be addressed during the trial, not bail hearings. They also questioned Darshan’s health-based bail claim, noting he only underwent physiotherapy, not surgery. The murder allegedly stemmed from Renukaswamy sending obscene messages to Darshan’s girlfriend, Pavithra Gowda, the prime accused.
Today, On 30th October, Actor Darshan was granted six weeks of interim bail on October 30 to receive medical treatment after being arrested for allegedly torturing and murdering a fan. The incident arose from obscenity accusations against the fan by Darshan’s friend, Pavithra Gowda. The court allowed bail due to Darshan’s medical needs, restricting his passport usage.
