NEW DELHI: On January 10th, A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking directions for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to act on a complaint related to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s promise of giving Rs 2,100 to women voters under the Mahila Samman Yojana.
The Delhi High Court, On January 9, 2025 led by Justice Jyoti Singh, questioned the maintainability of a petition by Vijay Kumar challenging the AAP’s promise of a monthly stipend for women before the assembly elections. The petitioner argued the announcement was misleading. The petitioner had also reported this to the Election Commission, seeking urgent action.

Justices questioned delays in payments despite previous directives and demanded immediate resolution. The Supreme Court on Thursday(14th Nov), granted former Chhattisgarh bureaucrat Anil Tuteja interim protection from arrest related to the Chhattisgarh liquor scam. This decision came after the Allahabad High Court denied his request to quash criminal proceedings. The court scheduled a hearing for January 21 and also sought responses from the Enforcement Directorate.
The Supreme Court On Thursday(14th Nov) petition concerns DMRC’s claim against DAMEPL for failing to refund deposited funds. Justice KV Viswanathan recused himself from the case. Previously, a 2021 ruling favoring DAMEPL was overturned, reinstating DMRC’s victory. DMRC is now pursuing contempt charges for DAMEPL’s non-compliance with the refund order.
