"Supreme Court Vacation Benches Disposed of 1,160 Out of 4,000 Listed Cases During Summer Break": CJI DY Chandrachud

NEW DELHI: Today(on 5th August),Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud provided an overview of the Supreme Court‘s productivity during this year’s summer vacation. The vacation benches, operational from May 20 to July 7, handled an extensive workload.

According to the CJI-

“During the summer break, 21 benches of the Supreme Court conducted proceedings.”

These benches were instrumental in maintaining the momentum of judicial processes even as the court traditionally observes a recess. The efforts of these benches were crucial in addressing urgent legal matters that couldn’t be postponed.

During this period, an astounding“4,000 matters were scheduled for these benches to address,” highlighting the sheer volume of cases that required attention. Out of these, “1,160 matters were resolved,” showcasing the efficiency and dedication of the judiciary in clearing a significant portion of the caseload.
