This new name board not only marks the identity of the apex court but also symbolizes the stature and authority of the highest judicial body in the country. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud also announced several initiatives to enhance the court’s infrastructure and improve the experience for litigants and advocates.

This new name board not only marks the identity of the apex court but also symbolizes the stature and authority of the highest judicial body in the country.
The installation of the name board comes as a part of the ongoing efforts to modernize and upgrade the facilities of the Supreme Court. Positioned at a perfect spot, the name board is expected to serve as a clear and distinguished marker for all visitors and officials, reinforcing the court’s esteemed presence.
The Supreme Court’s new name board stands as a testament to the rich history and evolving future of the Indian judiciary, continuing to uphold justice and the rule of law in the country.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud announced several initiatives to enhance the court’s infrastructure and improve the experience for litigants and advocates.
Over 40 initiatives were undertaken during the summer break to modernize and upgrade the court facilities, including:
- Air Conditioning: Implemented in the corridors outside Court Nos. 1-5, in consultation with IIT Delhi and other organizations, providing a more comfortable waiting area for litigants and advocates.
- Restoration of Advocates’ Waiting Room: Offering a dedicated space for legal professionals to prepare and confer.
- Women’s Bar Room: Ongoing work to address the specific needs of female legal practitioners.
- Advocates’ Cubicles: Progress on constructing private workspaces within the court premises.
Additionally, the Supreme Court has introduced paperless courtrooms with large screens for virtual hearings.
The first three courtrooms now feature advanced video conferencing systems, LED video walls, and “document cameras” for clear display of physical documents.
Free Wi-Fi is also now available for lawyers and visitors, enhancing connectivity and access to digital resources.
These upgrades demonstrate the Supreme Court’s commitment to modernizing its facilities and leveraging technology to improve the efficiency and accessibility of the justice system, significantly improving the working environment for legal professionals and the experience of litigants.
