NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India on Monday said that the ongoing matrimonial dispute between Rippling co-founder Prasanna Sankar and his wife Dhivya Sashidhar should be referred for mediation.
The case was heard by a Bench of Justice MM Sundresh and Justice Rajesh Bindal. The observation was made during the hearing of a petition filed by Dhivya Sashidhar.
During the hearing, Senior Advocate Nagamuthu, who appeared for Sashidhar, told the Court that Sankar had allegedly sent highly offensive and abusive messages to his wife on social media.
He submitted to the Court:
“See just one thing. The kind of messages sent by husband. She is being called a prostitute etc..let there be restraint on both of them for social media posts.”
Responding to this, Justice MM Sundresh observed “Yes, yes we saw..this is a matter for mediation.”
Justice Rajesh Bindal also showed concern and expressed anguish over the alleged harassment faced by Sashidhar on social media.

In the tweets, Sankar accused Dhivya Sashidhar of filing false police cases against him in an effort to abduct their son and take him abroad.
He also claimed that the Tamil Nadu police were harassing him and trying to take away his son based on a false kidnapping complaint filed by Sashidhar.
Later, Prasanna Sankar approached the Madras High Court, which ordered the police to not harass him.
On the other hand, Dhivya Sashidhar has denied all the accusations made by her husband. She reportedly said that she filed the kidnapping complaint only to find out where their son was, as she was concerned about his safety and whereabouts.
Sankaranarayanan alleged that his wife has filed several false criminal cases against him in the US and Singapore. According to him, she is now employing similar tactics in India.
The petition mentioned that both parties had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in February. As per the MoU, they agreed to divorce by mutual consent and share joint custody of their son. Additionally, they decided to reside in Chennai, and the child’s travel documents were to be kept in a joint locker.
His wife later came to Chennai with their son, and on March 3, she voluntarily handed him over to Sankaranarayanan. However, he alleged that soon after, she filed a false complaint against him.
He further claimed that she violated the MoU by refusing to deposit their child’s travel documents in the joint locker and by not appearing before the Chennai court where their divorce case is pending.
Meanwhile, Dhivya Sashidhar has denied all allegations made by Sankaranarayanan. As per a Financial Express report, she stated that she filed a kidnapping complaint only to locate her son.
She also alleged that she was forced to sign the February MoU and that her son was forcibly taken from her custody by Sankaranarayanan’s friend, Gokul S.
