The Supreme Court has accepted the SCBA’s request to restrict law interns from entering courtrooms on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, stating they may still access corridors and premises during regular hearing days that is on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Supreme Court decided to prohibit law interns from entering courtrooms on miscellaneous hearing days specifically, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
This decision follows a request from the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), as communicated in a message dated July 30 from the Court’s Registry to the SCBA.
The communication stated,
“The competent authority has been pleased to accede to the request made by Supreme Court Bar Association for restricting access of law interns inside the court rooms on miscellaneous hearing days, i.e. Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays,”
Law interns will still be allowed access to court premises and corridors during regular hearing days, which are Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The SCBA had previously reached out to the Court to propose limiting the presence of law interns, citing concerns about overcrowding in the Court.
The SCBA had said,
“It has been observed that on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, there is significant congestion in the Courtrooms and Court Corridors. This is largely attributed to the high number of interns present on these days. Senior Advocates and regular practitioners have found it increasingly difficult to move around from one Court to another. Moreover, in many instances, interns are not vacating seats even when requested by members of the Bar, thereby causing further inconvenience by practicing advocates,”
