Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan have given the Uttar Pradesh Government one week to respond to Ansari’s plea, with the case rescheduled for September.
Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Abbas Ansari, argued that allegations of unauthorized access to the jail were unfounded, presenting documents to prove that proper verification procedures were followed each time individuals entered the facility.
Ansari, challenging the Allahabad High Court’s denial of his bail request, filed his petition through advocate Lzafeer Ahmad BF.
The court also noted that the money trail connected Ansari to two firms allegedly involved in money laundering: M/s Vikas Construction and M/s Aaghaaz. The ED had booked Ansari on November 4, 2022, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, based on three prior cases. Ansari is currently incarcerated in Kasganj jail.
Abbas Ansari stands accused of extorting money from multiple individuals by making threats through his wife’s mobile phone. His wife allegedly visited him at Chitrakoot district jail, where Ansari is currently in Custody, and facilitated these communications.

On May 1, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court denied Ansari’s request for bail in connection with the case. Following this rejection, Ansari took the matter to the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court’s decision.
Following the alleged incident, Ansari was transferred to Kasganj jail in February 2023. Seven individuals, including Ansari’s wife, were arrested in connection with the case. Ansari’s wife was later granted bail by the Supreme Court.
