According to Lt. Gen. Pandey, some of the government’s strong anti-terror decisions were slowed down due to judicial intervention. He believes such delays have indirectly encouraged attacks like the one in Pahalgam.

New Delhi – India is deeply saddened by the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 innocent civilians lost their lives. The Indian government has started taking tough action in response to this tragic incident, including steps to suspend the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan.

“The process of giving a befitting reply to Pakistan for this attack has begun.”

The government is working on five major steps to answer Pakistan for this attack. Along with diplomatic and military strategies, the Centre is also reviewing key agreements like the Indus Water Treaty, showing that India is not taking this incident lightly.

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) D.P. Pandey criticises Supreme Court’s interference in security matters

In a recent conversation with Smita Prakash on the ANI podcast, Lieutenant General (Retired) D.P. Pandey said the judiciary should better understand the challenges faced by the armed forces. He openly criticised the Supreme Court’s interference in matters related to national security.

“The Supreme Court interfered in matters of national security, which led to delays in decisions taken by the government and the army.”

According to Lt. Gen. Pandey, some of the government’s strong anti-terror decisions were slowed down due to judicial intervention. He believes such delays have indirectly encouraged attacks like the one in Pahalgam.

“The judges questioned the government’s policies to deal with terrorism, which became a reason for this attack.”

He called upon the judiciary to understand the real challenges by directly visiting affected areas like Pahalgam.

“Judges should see the truth of Kashmir with their own eyes.”

Lt. Gen. Pandey stressed that judges must visit Kashmir and see firsthand the effects of terrorism and the difficulties security forces face daily.

“The court should take decisions not only from a legal perspective but also by understanding the ground reality.”

He further appealed to the judiciary to support the government and army when it comes to safeguarding the nation.

“The Supreme Court should allow the government and the army to work freely in matters related to national security.”

Lt. Gen. Pandey clearly blamed Pakistan’s army and intelligence agency ISI for planning the attack.

“Pakistan’s army and ISI are behind this attack, and India should give a strong response.”

He said the motive behind the attack was to create fear and hurt Kashmir’s growing tourism and peace.

“By targeting tourists in Pahalgam, Pakistan wants to stop the progress of tourism and peace in Kashmir.”

Lt. Gen. Pandey warned that if no joint action is taken by the judiciary and the government, such terrorist attacks may rise in the future.

“If the court and the government do not take strict action together, such attacks may increase.”

On Wednesday morning, during a full court meeting, the Supreme Court decided together to pass a resolution that completely condemned this horrible act of terrorism. In a statement released by the top court, it said,

“This diabolical act of mindless violence has shaken the conscience of all and is a stark reminder of the brutality and inhumanity that terrorism unleashes,”.

The resolution by the Supreme Court further said,

“The Supreme Court of India pays its respectful tribute to the innocent lives snuffed out brutally and prematurely while also expressing its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. May the departed souls rest in peace and may those who were injured recover soon. The nation stands with the victims and their families in this hour of indescribable grief.”

According to the court’s statement, the victims were only enjoying Kashmir, which is often called the “Crown Jewel” of India. The attack on them is a clear insult to the values of humanity and the importance of life. The Supreme Court strongly criticized the act.

In response to the tragic incident, the Central government has scheduled an all-party meeting on 24 April, which will be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The aim is to review the current security situation, post-attack measures, and discuss the future strategy.

Leaders from across political parties will attend the meeting to share their views and build a united front against terrorism.
