NEW DELHI: Regarding the NEET-UG 2024 examination, petitioners demanding the scrapping of the results have presented crucial evidence before the Supreme Court on Monday, 8th July. A video was shown that allegedly reveals the question paper was leaked on Telegram a day before the exam. This revelation has cast a shadow of doubt over the integrity of one of India’s most critical medical entrance examinations, raising serious concerns about the fairness and security of the process.
The video, accessed by one of the media agency, presents recordings of messages from two different Telegram channels. These messages purportedly display the leaked NEET-UG 2024 paper on May 4 at 9.01 am.
According to the petitioners, the question paper in the video matches the one administered to students during the May 5 exam. Although the video’s authenticity has not been independently verified, the petitioners insist that it is genuine and serves as definitive proof of the leak.
Following the hearing, the Supreme Court took a serious stance on the matter, seeking detailed information from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the alleged paper leak. The court emphasized the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the examination process.
The bench, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, made a poignant observation, stating-
“If the integrity of the exam is compromised, a re-test must be conducted.”
Furthermore, the Chief Justice sought specific details about the timing of the leak and the duration between the leak and the actual examination. This information is crucial in assessing the extent of the breach and its potential impact on the examination’s integrity.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, the Chief Justice remarked-
“We need to be mindful of the scale of the leak, given that 23 lakh students are affected.”
acknowledging the significant number of students whose futures could be affected by this incident.
The allegations of a paper leak have caused widespread concern among students, parents, and educators. As a highly competitive exam, NEET-UG is crucial for determining the future of aspiring medical students across India. The integrity of such examinations is essential, and any compromise can have significant consequences.

In response to the allegations, educational authorities are under immense pressure to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is served. The potential need for a re-examination looms large, contingent on the findings of the NTA and CBI’s investigation. The court’s intervention underscores the significance of maintaining transparency and fairness in the examination process.
The petitioners’ decision to present video evidence before the Supreme Court underscores their resolve to uncover the truth. The alleged leak’s effect on the candidates’ performance and the overall fairness of the examination is central to this legal battle. As the investigation progresses, the education community eagerly awaits a resolution that upholds justice and integrity.
