Today, On 21st July, The Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest to actor Shreyas Talpade in connection with a marketing scam case in Haryana. The actor had approached the top court seeking relief from coercive action by the state police.

The Supreme Court granted actor Shreyas Talpade protection from arrest on Monday in connection with a cheating and breach of trust case involving a society.
A bench comprising Justices B V Nagarathna and K V Viswanathan issued a notice to the Haryana police and others regarding a plea filed by the actor.
An FIR had been filed against 13 individuals, including Talpade and fellow actor Alok Nath, based on a complaint of cheating and breach of trust related to a society in Sonipat.

Additional Commissioner of Police, Murthal, Sonipat, Ajeet Singh, stated that the complaint pertains to a multi-marketing company that is currently under investigation.
The Supreme Court’s notice marks the commencement of judicial examination regarding the involvement of the accused in the company’s promotional and operational activities.
The charges include criminal breach of trust, cheating, and fraudulent property transfer. Ajeet Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Murthal, confirmed in January 2025 that the actors were mentioned in the complainant’s statement submitted to the police.
He stated,
“The main complaint is against the society that is alleged to have duped people of their money by luring them to invest. We will have to investigate what role, if any, is ascribed to Shreyas and Alok Nath.”
A resident of Sonipat reportedly filed a complaint against the society, which is registered in Indore under the Multi-State Cooperative Society Act of 2002.
The society, active in multiple states since September 2016, allegedly attracted investors with high-return fixed deposit and recurring deposit schemes, utilizing a multi-level marketing model to grow its investor base through agent recruitment.
