An Illustrious Career in the Judiciary
Justice Manmohan, born on December 17, 1962, has a stellar legal and judicial career. A graduate of the Campus Law Centre in Delhi, he earned his LL.B. degree in 1987. The same year, he enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi and began practicing law before the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
In January 2003, the Delhi High Court recognized his expertise and contributions to the legal profession by designating him as a Senior Advocate.
His journey in the judiciary officially began on March 13, 2008, when he was appointed as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court. His tenure as a permanent judge commenced on December 17, 2009.
Leadership in Delhi High Court
Justice Manmohan made significant contributions to the Delhi High Court, initially as its Acting Chief Justice in September 2023 and subsequently as its Chief Justice from September 2024.
His leadership was marked by notable decisions and reforms that strengthened the court’s functioning and upheld the principles of justice.
A New Chapter in the Supreme Court
With his elevation, Justice Manmohan brings his extensive experience and legal acumen to the Supreme Court. His appointment fills a critical role, with the Supreme Court now operating with 33 judges out of its sanctioned strength of 34, leaving one vacancy yet to be filled.
