Today, On 22nd May, The Supreme Court has cancelled today’s sitting of the bench led by Justice Abhay S. Oka. As a result, no matters listed before Court No. 3 will be heard, and the schedule stands vacated for the day.

The Supreme Court of India released an official notice informing that Justice Abhay S. Oka will not be available to hold court proceedings on Thursday, 22.05.2025.

As a result, the sitting of Court No. 3, which was supposed to be presided over by a division bench comprising Hon’ble Mr. Justice Abhay S. Oka and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, has been completely cancelled.

According to the notice,

“Hon’ble Mr. Justice Abhay S. Oka will not be holding the Court on 22.05.2025 (Thursday).”

It further clarified,

“Hence, sitting of Court No. 3 comprising Hon’ble Mr. Justice Abhay S. Oka and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan stands cancelled and the matters listed before this Bench will not be taken up for hearing.”

This means that any case or matter that was previously scheduled to be heard before this particular bench on that date will now not be taken up at all.

However, the notice also mentioned that Justice Ujjal Bhuyan will still be holding court in a different capacity.

As stated in the official document,

“Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan will take up Single Judge Bench / Chamber Matters on 22.05.2025 (Thursday) in Court No. 3 at 11:30 a.m., as per list issued separately.”

This means that instead of the division bench, Justice Bhuyan will handle chamber or single judge matters alone at the same courtroom at 11:30 AM on the same day.

The notice was issued by the office of the Assistant Registrar (Listing), and at the end, it simply stated,

“By order, sd/- Assistant Registrar (Listing).”

A copy of this notice has been sent to “All Concerned.”

This update is important for lawyers, litigants, and officials who had scheduled appearances or filings before Court No. 3 on 22 May 2025.

They are advised to take note of the change and refer to the separately issued list for the matters Justice Bhuyan will handle as a single judge.
