The court directed that the police commissioner and the investigating officer be summoned on April 13 along with the case records.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi took note of submissions made by senior advocate N Hariharan, appearing for the victim’s father, a daily wager.
The bench also expressed displeasure at the way the state police had carried out the investigation so far.

The CJI lambasted the state police and two private hospitals for refusing to treat the girl before she succumbed to her injuries following the alleged rape, calling their response “complete indifference and insensitive approach”.
According to the case, on March 16, the victim was allegedly lured away by a neighbour on the pretext of buying chocolates.
When the child did not return, a search was conducted, and the father later found her lying unconscious and covered in blood. She subsequently died of her injuries at a government hospital in Ghaziabad.
On March 16, the girl was reportedly playing outside her home when the suspect a neighbor who worked at a private factory allegedly enticed her to a secluded field beyond their residential area. Officials said he lured her with the promise of buying her chocolates, after which he raped and killed her by striking her head with a stone.
The suspect was arrested the following day as part of a police crackdown, authorities added.
