This threat is allegedly connected to the recent Supreme Court judgement concerning reservations, as stated by a police official on Monday(5th August).
In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court declared on Thursday that states possess constitutional authority to create sub-classifications within the Scheduled Castes. This decision aims to provide reservations for the advancement of castes that are socially and educationally more backward. The court emphasized that the Scheduled Castes form a socially heterogeneous group, necessitating tailored measures for their upliftment.
“The FIR was filed under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act. Authorities are working to apprehend the suspect.”
-confirmed Ravikant Daheria, the in-charge of Betul Ganj police station.
The accused, identified as Pankaj Atulkar, allegedly made a Facebook post in Hindi, threatening to kill the CJI. In his post, Atulkar expressed outrage over the judgement, claiming it delivered a “Decision to Marginalize Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Communities” which he argued, “violated the Constitution.”
