NEW DELHI: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjeev Khanna inaugurated a special blood donation camp on Wednesday in the lawns of the Supreme Court.
The event was organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) in partnership with the Indian Red Cross Society to honor Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, which is celebrated across India as National Youth Day.
While speaking to the attendees, CJI Khanna shared how important such events are for promoting community service.

He also emphasized the judiciary’s role in supporting society beyond just legal duties.
“This blood donation camp reflects how every segment of society, including the legal fraternity, can come together to save lives. It aligns with the spirit of service and dedication embodied by Swami Vivekananda,”

Kapil Sibal, the President of SCBA, joined other senior lawyers at the camp and praised the bar’s efforts to organize activities that serve the community.
Many others, including advocates, judicial staff, and employees from the Supreme Court, also stepped forward to donate blood, showing their strong commitment to humanitarian causes.
The blood donation camp drew a large crowd, and representatives of the Indian Red Cross Society appreciated the Supreme Court’s initiative.
They highlighted how the blood collected during the camp would help address hospital shortages and save lives during critical medical emergencies.
This thoughtful initiative by the SCBA not only celebrated the inspiring legacy of Swami Vivekananda but also demonstrated how people in the legal field can play a significant role in improving society.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from SCBA office bearers, who promised to keep organizing such meaningful events in the future.
