Today, On 18th June, The Supreme Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of a Bihar woman accused of impersonation in the CTET exam. She was allegedly caught trying to take the test on behalf of her sister to secure eligibility fraudulently.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court dismissed a woman’s plea for anticipatory bail on Wednesday after she was charged with impersonation and attempting to take the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for her sister.
The CTET is a national examination conducted twice a year by the CBSE for the recruitment of teachers in Central government schools, including KVS (Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan) and NVS (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti).

A bench comprising Justices Sandeep Mehta and Prasanna B Varale, while rejecting her pre-arrest bail request, stated,
“Her custodial interrogation would be needed in the case,”
The court advised her to surrender to the police to facilitate a thorough investigation.
Kumari Sharda, from Village Bahadurpur in Darbhanga district, Bihar, was apprehended while attempting to take the CTET in her elder sister’s place. According to police reports, her biometric and Aadhaar information did not align with that of the actual candidate.
The prosecution claimed that Sharda admitted her guilt at the examination center.
Both the trial court in Samastipur and the Patna High Court had previously dismissed her anticipatory bail plea on April 23. She is facing charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for impersonation and cheating in Samastipur.
