The Supreme Court of India, while hearing the plea of Wing Commander Sucheta Edn—a woman officer in the Indian Air Force who served in Operation Sindoor and the Balakot airstrike—strongly praised the professionalism and dedication of the Indian Armed Forces

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India heard the case of Wing Commander Sucheta Edn, a woman officer in the Indian Air Force, who has approached the court against the denial of Permanent Commission. The officer has a distinguished record, having participated in both Operation Sindoor and the Balakot airstrike.
During the hearing, Justice Surya Kant expressed deep appreciation for the Indian Armed Forces.
He remarked:
“Our air force is one of the best, no doubt about it and these officers are commendable.”
Adding to the praise, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Aishwarya Bhati, representing the Union of India, said:
“All the 3 defence force are most professional.”
Justice Surya Kant wholeheartedly agreed with her and further said:
“Absolutely. The quality of coordination which they have exhibited is unparalleled. Therefore, we always salute them. They are definitely big asset for the nation, in fact, they are the nation in a way. Because of them we are able to see in the night.”
The comments came while the bench was considering Wing Commander Sucheta Edn’s request, as she challenged the decision denying her a permanent role in the Air Force. She highlighted her contributions to important national operations like Operation Sindoor and Balakot as part of her service record.
Taking note of her plea, the Supreme Court issued notice to the concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, the court also passed an interim direction:
“The applicant-wing commander be not relieved (from service).”
This means that the officer will not be forced to leave the service while the case is being considered by the Court.
