Special Court Directs NIA to Verify Pragya Thakur’s Health & Report Findings

Today (3rd April)The special NIA court ordered the Mumbai NIA team to verify Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s health status with the Bhopal NIA team in person, noting her absence during the trial proceedings. Additionally, it highlighted that the BJP MP granted her exemption solely based on medical reports.

New Delhi:Today (3rd April) A special NIA court instructed the Mumbai NIA team to contact the Bhopal NIA team and confirm Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s health status in person. The court noted her absence during the recording of the CrPC 313 statement is causing delays in the trial. Additionally, the court noted that the BJP MP granted her exemption solely relying on her medical reports.

In the previous month, a special judge issued a bailable warrant of Rs 10,000 against BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur for her non-appearance before the NIA court regarding the 2008 Malegaon blast case.

On March 5, Thakur, one of the accused in the case, sought exemption on health grounds through her lawyer, submitting a medical certificate indicating her illness and the need for rest.

The court also directed the NIA to submit a comprehensive report on her health by April 8, 2024. Other accused in the case include Lt Col Prasad Purohit, Sameer Kulkarni, Ajay Rahirkar, Retd Major Ramesh Upadhyay, Sudhakar Dwivedi, and Sudhakar Chaturvedi, all of whom are currently out on bail
