Shocking Jail Blunder: Name Confusion Leads To Release Of Rape Accused Instead Of Prisoner Granted Bail

HARYANA: In Faridabad, a very serious mistake happened at Neemka Jail when jail authorities wrongly released a prisoner who was facing serious rape charges. The incident occurred because two prisoners in the same jail had the same first name – Nitesh – and even their father’s names were the same – Ravinder.

One Nitesh Pandey, aged 27, was arrested in October 2021 for the repeated sexual assault of a nine-year-old boy under the POCSO Act. The other Nitesh, aged 24, was recently jailed for a house trespassing and assault case. He had been granted bail by the Faridabad Chief Judicial Magistrate and was supposed to be released on Tuesday.

However, instead of releasing the man who got bail, the jail staff accidentally let go of the rape accused Nitesh Pandey. The police say he misused the situation by not revealing who he really was. Now, police have filed a complaint and are searching for him.

A case has been registered against the rape accused under charges of cheating and hiding identity at the Sadar police station.

Authorities are treating the matter very seriously and working quickly to find the accused again.

“We have lodged a complaint with the Sadar Police Station against Nitish Pandey for obtaining his release by hiding his identity,”

-said Jail Deputy Superintendent Vikram Singh.

Confirming the incident, Sadar Police Station SHO Umesh Kumar said that police are now working on arresting the rape accused again.

“He will be arrested soon,”

-he assured.

This unusual mix-up became even more confusing because both men shared similar names and were kept in the same jail. Jail authorities now say that the rape accused tricked the system and took advantage of the confusion.
