On the 2nd of February, in an event that has shocked the local community, Ganpat Gaikwad is accused of having opened fire on Mahesh Gaikwad, the Kalyan unit chief of the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. This alarming incident took place inside the senior inspector’s chamber at the Hill Line police station in the Ulhasnagar area, putting a spotlight on the intense political rivalry in the district.

The gravity of the situation is underscored by the charges levied against those involved. Attempted murder among various other allegations has been brought forward, highlighting the severity of the confrontation. Following the altercation, the targeted Shiv Sena leader was urgently admitted to a private hospital in Thane, where he is reportedly on the path to recovery.


In the aftermath of the incident, Ganpat Gaikwad, along with his associates Harshal Kene, Sandeep Sarvankar, Divyesh alias Vicky Ganatra, and driver Ranjit Yadav, were presented before a court. During this judicial proceeding, advocates Nilesh Pandey and Umar Kazi, representing the accused, engaged with the media. They shared,

“the police requested for extension of remand of the accused for interrogation which the court did not allow and remanded them to judicial custody.”
