MUMBAI: Today(on 25th April), A court in Mumbai has decided to extend the police custody of two men who were recently arrested in connection with the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence.
The court ordered that the custody of Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal be extended until April 29, giving the police more time to investigate the motive behind the shooting.
The accused, Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21), residents of Bihar, were brought before the metropolitan magistrate court after their previous remand ended. The police had requested the extension of their custody by four days, arguing that they needed additional time to uncover the reasons behind the firing.
During the court proceedings, Advocate Amit Mishra, representing the accused, contended that his clients’ further custody was unnecessary as the weapon used in the firing had already been recovered, and both men were fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Taking into account the arguments presented by both sides, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate L S Padhen decided to extend the custody of Gupta and Pal until April 29. The firing incident occurred in the early hours of April 14 outside Salman Khan’s residence at the Galaxy Apartment in Bandra. The two accused reportedly fled the scene on a motorbike.
The arrest of Gupta and Pal took place on April 16 in Mata No Madh village located in Gujarat’s Kutch district. Subsequently, the Mumbai police’s crime branch conducted a search operation in the Tapi river in Gujarat, where they recovered two pistols, magazines, and bullets believed to be the weapons used in the firing.
In a significant development, the Mumbai police have also declared Lawrence Bishnoi, a jailed gangster, and his younger brother Anmol Bishnoi as “wanted accused” in this case. The inclusion of the Bishnoi brothers as wanted individuals suggests that the authorities suspect their involvement in the firing incident.
The investigation into the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence continues, with the police working diligently to establish the motive behind the attack. The recovered weapon and the cooperation of the arrested individuals are expected to provide crucial leads in the case. The extension of police custody will allow investigators to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the incident and gather more evidence.
Salman Khan, one of Bollywood’s most prominent actors, has been a part of several high-profile cases in the past. The firing incident has once again brought attention to the security concerns faced by celebrities in the entertainment industry. The authorities are taking this matter seriously and are determined to ensure the safety of public figures like Salman Khan.
As the investigation progresses, the police will continue their efforts to apprehend Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi, considering them as key suspects in the case. The involvement of known criminals adds a layer of complexity to the investigation, and it remains to be seen how their apprehension could potentially shed light on the motive and background of the shooting.
The extended custody of Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal indicates the seriousness with which the authorities are approaching this case. The court’s decision reflects the need for a thorough and comprehensive investigation to ascertain the complete truth behind the firing incident.
