[BREAKING] RG Kar Rape | "His Responses Have Been Contradictory in Polygraph Test": CBI Files FIR Against Ex-Principal Sandeep Ghosh After HC Order

WEST BENGAL: Following an order from the Calcutta High Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Anti-Corruption Branch has registered a case against Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The CBI has filed an FIR against Ghosh, launching a corruption investigation into his actions.

On the morning of August 24, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the Kolkata Police delivered all relevant documents to the CBI office at Nizam Palace. This handover was conducted in compliance with the High Court’s directive. Upon receiving the documents, the CBI promptly filed a case against Ghosh. According to CBI, a copy of the FIR was submitted to the Alipore CJM Court later in the day.

In a related development, a polygraph test was conducted on seven individuals, including the former principal, Sandeep Ghosh, and Sanjay Roy, a suspect in the rape and murder case of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College. Among those tested were four other doctors from the college and a civil volunteer associated with the hospital.

The role of Sandeep Ghosh in the case has raised significant concerns. The CBI, which has interrogated him for six consecutive days, found inconsistencies in his statements during questioning.

According to media reports, Ghosh’s responses have been contradictory, further casting doubt on his involvement.

The Supreme Court has also expressed serious concerns about Ghosh’s role in the case, which has placed him squarely under the CBI’s investigative lens. The agency sought and received court permission to conduct polygraph tests on Ghosh, Sanjay Roy, and the other individuals involved.

A polygraph test, commonly known as a lie detector test, is a tool used in criminal investigations to gather more detailed information about a crime and establish evidentiary links. Court approval is required to administer this test.

During the polygraph examination, several physiological indicators are monitored, including heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and skin sensitivity. Any deviations in these indicators, such as increased heart rate or changes in breathing patterns, can suggest that the individual is providing false information.

The test involves a series of psychological assessments to monitor these changes while the subject is questioned by investigative agencies.

This recent development marks a critical stage in the ongoing investigation, as the CBI continues to scrutinize the actions of those involved, with particular focus on the former principal, Sandeep Ghosh.
