Kolkata: The long-awaited trial in the case of the doctor’s rape and murder is set to commence after the Sealdah court completed framing charges against the sole accused.
Today, on November 4th, at 2 pm, charges were framed in multiple counts, finalizing the process 87 days after the incident and 28 days following the CBI’s chargesheet submission.
The court announced that hearings will start from November 11, with proceedings scheduled daily. The accused, a civic volunteer, was brought to court from the Presidency Correctional Facility under tight security.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is expected to hear another aspect of the RG tax case on Tuesday, while the financial corruption component is ongoing in the CBI special court at Alipore.

In a dramatic turn, the accused declared his innocence in court, asserting to those present, “I am being framed. I have been asked by the department to keep quiet.”
