Today, On 20th August, In the Kolkata rape-murder case, the CBI requested permission to conduct a narco test on Sandip Ghosh. The investigative agency aims to use this test to gather more information and clarify details related to the crime. The case has drawn significant attention, and the CBI is exploring all avenues to ensure a thorough investigation.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) approached the Sealdah court, seeking approval to conduct a narco-analysis test on Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata.

The CBI submitted a formal plea to the court, emphasizing the necessity of the narco test as part of its probe.

Dr. Ghosh, along with Abhijit Mondal, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Tala Police Station, arrested by the CBI last week. Both individuals were detained on suspicion of involvement in the tragic crime, which has shocked the local community and raised serious concerns about safety within medical institutions.

The following day, the CBI produced Ghosh and Mondal before a special court, where it petitioned for their custody in order to continue its investigation into the case.

The case involves the horrific rape and murder of a young female doctor who was undergoing training at a hospital in Kolkata. Her death has triggered widespread public outrage and calls for swift justice. Initially, local law enforcement agencies were handling the investigation, but due to the sensitivity of the case and the involvement of influential figures, it was transferred to the CBI for a more in-depth and impartial probe.

The arrest of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, a respected figure in the academic and medical community, along with a police officer, has raised significant concerns about the possibility of a cover-up or misconduct within institutional authorities. The CBI’s request for a narco test indicates that the investigators believe such a procedure could provide crucial insights or confirm suspicions that are vital to uncovering the truth behind the crime.

Narco-analysis, a controversial investigative technique, involves administering drugs to the subject in order to lower their inhibitions, potentially leading them to reveal information they might otherwise withhold. While such tests are not always legally admissible in court, they are sometimes used to gather leads in high-profile cases, especially when traditional interrogation methods fail to yield satisfactory results.

The court’s decision on whether to permit the narco test is awaited, and it will play a critical role in determining the next steps of the investigation. Meanwhile, the case continues to draw widespread attention as the public looks to the judiciary and investigative agencies for justice for the victim.

During the proceedings, the CBI suggested that a “larger conspiracy” may be involved in the RG Kar doctor’s rape and murder case.

The agency also raised concerns about Mondal’s involvement, indicating a possible link between him and Ghosh.
