Malappuram, Kerala: The police have registered a case against retired Kerala High Court judge Justice Ramachandran Nair, alleging his involvement in a scam that cheated people by falsely promising them scooters, laptops, and other items at half price using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
Justice Nair has been named as the third accused in the case, while Anandu Krishnan, the main accused, has already been arrested.

The first accused is K N Ananthakumar, chairman of the National NGO Confederation. The Perinthalmanna police registered the FIR on February 6, based on a complaint by Danimon, a 49-year-old resident of Valamboor, Malappuram.
According to the FIR, the accused collected money from several people through an organisation called KSS Angadippuram. They had promised to provide laptops, two-wheelers, and sewing machines at half the actual price. The NGO Confederation claimed that it would cover half the cost using CSR funds, while the beneficiaries had to pay the remaining amount.
Between April and November last year, the accused allegedly collected a total of Rs 34 lakh from multiple individuals but failed to deliver the promised products. This led to allegations of cheating and fraud.
Justice Ramachandran Nair, however, denied all allegations and claimed he had been wrongly implicated in the case. He stated that he had no involvement in the fraudulent scheme and was never officially a patron of the NGO Confederation.
“There are many who wanted to disrupt the work of the Munambam Commission, and it is suspected that this case was filed because of that,”
he said while speaking to the media in Kochi.
He further clarified that he was initially appointed as an advisor to the NGO but had resigned from the position in June last year.
“The complainant does not know me, nor do I know him,” he asserted.
Justice Nair also accused the police of booking him without conducting a proper preliminary inquiry.
In another related case, the Perinthalmanna police have also registered a case against IUML MLA Najeeb Kanthapuram. A woman filed a complaint alleging that she had paid Rs 21,000 for a laptop at half price but never received it. The police are investigating whether this case is connected to the broader scam involving Krishnan and the NGO Confederation.
On Sunday, the police took Anandu Krishnan to various locations in Kochi as part of the investigation. He was brought to his flat at Marine Drive, his previous residence in Palarivattom, and his offices in Vyttila to collect evidence.
Krishnan, a 26-year-old from Thodupuzha in Idukki district, was arrested on charges of defrauding people of several crores by promising laptops, scooters, home appliances, and sewing machines at half price.
The police are carrying out a detailed investigation, as complaints have emerged from different parts of Kerala. Krishnan has been remanded to five days of police custody for further questioning.
