A Delhi court extended the judicial custody of Red Fort blast accused Bilal Naseer Malla by 13 days, keeping him detained until January 16, after he was produced at Patiala House Courts under NIA security following his eight-day custody.

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of Bilal Naseer Malla, an accused in the Red Fort blast case from November 10, for an additional 13 days, keeping him in detention until January 16.
He was presented at the Patiala House Courts by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under heavy security following the conclusion of his eight day NIA custody granted on December 26.
Principal and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna passed the order after reviewing the case progress and hearing the submissions of the investigating agency. The NIA had sought continued custody to further probe the alleged conspiracy behind the explosion, which took place near the Red Fort, a highly sensitive heritage site in the capital.

Malla is among several individuals under investigation for their suspected involvement in the incident, which raised significant national security concerns and prompted a nationwide probe. The agency is examining suspected networks, communications, and other digital and material evidence to uncover the wider plot and motives.
The court has set a date for further hearings once Malla’s extended custody ends.
Previously, on December 3, the same court granted an additional seven days of NIA custody for accused Jasir Bilal Wani, who was apprehended in Srinagar on November 17. The NIA claims that Wani provided technological expertise to facilitate planned terrorist activities, including modifying drones and experimenting with rocket fabrication.
Investigators argue that he had close ties with Umar un Nabi, the alleged suicide bomber, and was a vital link in the preparations leading to the intended “terror carnage.”
In other related proceedings, on November 29 the court sent four accused Muzammil Ganaie, Adeel Rather, Shaheena Saeed, and Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay to 10 days judicial custody.
Earlier on November 26, the court had extended the NIA custody of accused Amir Rashid Ali by ten days, while another accused, Soyab, was also remanded to NIA custody for allegedly providing logistical support to Umar ahead of the November 10 car bombing that killed multiple people and left many injured near the Red Fort.

Previously, on November 16, the Delhi court had remanded Amir Rashid Ali to ten days of NIA custody related to the deadly blast. He is a resident of Samboora in Pampore, was arrested in Delhi for his suspected role in arranging the explosive-laden vehicle used in the car-borne improvised explosive device.
According to the NIA, Ali traveled to Delhi last year to assist in procuring the vehicle that ultimately detonated near the Red Fort, claiming 13 lives and injuring several others.
The agency continues to coordinate with various state police forces and central agencies to trace the wider network and establish the full conspiracy registered under RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.
