Pune, Maharashtra: (On June 5th): The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pune has extended the remand of the teenager involved in a fatal car crash until June 12. Meanwhile, a separate court has extended the police custody of his parents.

The police informed the court that a forensic laboratory report confirmed the mother’s blood samples were used to replace the teenager’s after the accident.

The incident occurred in the early hours of May 19 in Kalyani Nagar, where a Porsche allegedly driven by the 17-year-old crashed into a two-wheeler, killing two IT professionals. The police claimed the juvenile was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The Police have arrested Naman Bhutadaowner of Cosie Hotel, bar counter manager Sachin Katkar, and Blak club manager Sachin Sangle. These individuals are accused of serving alcohol to a juvenile, who later caused the fatal accident. The father of the juvenile has also been arrested, although he has yet to be presented in court for custody.

The Pune Police arrested Surendra Agarwal, the grandfather of the 17-year-old boy who fatally crashed his sports car into a bike, killing two IT professionals on May 19. The arrest took place at 3 am on Saturday from Agarwal’s residence, marking the third FIR registered in this case.

Surendra Agarwal faces allegations of threatening Gangaram, the driver, and coercing him to falsely claim that he was driving the Porsche during the accident.

Initially, the JJB granted bail to the teenager, son of real estate developer Vishal Agarwal, and instructed him to write a 300-word essay on road safety. However, following public outcry, the police re-approached the JJB, which then modified its order, sending the juvenile to an observation home until June 5. This week, the police requested a 14-day extension of his remand.

Additionally, the sessions court extended the police custody of the teen’s parents, Vishal and Shivani Agarwal, until June 10 upon the police’s request.

Two doctors and an employee of Sassoon General Hospital were arrested last month for allegedly replacing the minor’s blood samples to show he was not intoxicated. One of the doctors was allegedly in contact with the teen’s father.

The mother was arrested on June 1 for conspiracy. On Wednesday, the police presented the parents, the two doctors, and the hospital employee before the court after their police custody ended. The prosecution informed the court that the Forensic Science Laboratory report confirmed Shivani Agarwal’s blood samples were used instead of her son’s.

The court also extended the custody of the doctors and the hospital employee until June 7.
