Today, (15th April), The PMLA court ordered a 14-day judicial remand for Shajahan Sheikh in connection with an ED case. This decision follows legal proceedings related to alleged financial misconduct. Sheikh will remain in custody for the specified period as part of the ongoing investigation. The court’s ruling is a significant development in the case involving financial irregularities.

Kolkata: A special court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) placed suspended TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh in judicial custody for 14 days. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Sheikh on March 30 for alleged money laundering activities disguised as a pisciculture business.
After spending the past few weeks in ED custody per a court directive, Sheikh now been transferred to judicial remand for 14 days. This decision made by Special Judge Prasanta Mukhopadhyay at the PMLA court located at Bichar Bhavan.
The arrest made in connection with a previous case involving a mob assault on ED officials when they attempted to search Sheikh’s property in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal on January 5.
The ED claims that Sheikh engaged in money laundering by diverting funds obtained through land grabbing from vulnerable villagers under the guise of a pisciculture business. During the search operation, a mob of around 1,000 people attacked the ED officials.
Abhijit Bhadra, representing the ED, requested judicial custody for Sheikh.

In this case, the ED accuses Sheikh of money laundering, claiming that he diverted funds obtained through land grabbing under the guise of a pisciculture business, harming unsuspecting villagers.
A separate investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is underway to determine Sheikh’s involvement in orchestrating the assault to hinder the raid on his premises.
