A special Jammu court has extended NIA custody of two accused who allegedly harboured Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists behind the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people. The accused reportedly gave food and shelter to the Pakistani militants before the brutal strike.

Jammu: Today, on July 7, a special NIA court in Jammu has given the National Investigation Agency (NIA) 10 more days’ custody of two people who were earlier arrested for allegedly helping Pakistani terrorists involved in the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that took place in April this year.

The two accused, Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad Jothar, were already in NIA custody for 10 days.

After that period ended, they were presented before the special court on Monday, which extended their remand so that the investigation could continue.

The NIA told the court that they needed more time to investigate and gather more evidence. Officials said that Parvaiz and Bashir were earlier arrested on June 22 and produced before a local court in Jammu on June 23.

At that time, the court had granted the NIA five days’ custody. Later, the case was moved to the special NIA court, which gave them more time for investigation.

According to NIA officials, during interrogation, both accused revealed important details. They disclosed the names and identities of the three armed terrorists who carried out the deadly Pahalgam attack.

The officials confirmed that these terrorists were from Pakistan and were part of the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The NIA made a serious allegation, stating that

“Parvaiz and Bashir had knowingly harboured the terrorists at a seasonal ‘dhok’ (hut) in Hill Park in Pahalgam before the April 22 attack.”

They further claimed that

“The two provided food, shelter and logistical support to the terrorists.”

On April 22, the terrorists launched a horrifying attack in the popular tourist area of Pahalgam in south Kashmir.

According to the NIA, the terrorists

“selectively targeted and killed tourists based on their religious identity,”

which led to the tragic death of 26 people and left 16 others injured.

This incident has been described as

“one of the most gruesome terrorist attacks in recent memory.”

The NIA continues to investigate the larger terror network behind this planned massacre in Kashmir’s well-known tourist destination.

The case is being seen as a serious matter of national security, especially because of the way the attack was carried out and the involvement of foreign terrorists with help from locals.
