NIA secures five-day remand of two Pahalgam residents for harbouring Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists behind April’s deadly attack. The duo allegedly gave shelter, food, and support to Pakistani militants who killed 26 tourists.

Shrinagar: Today, on June 23, a local court in Jammu granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) five-day custody of two men who were arrested for giving shelter to the Pakistani terrorists responsible for the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam in April.
This order was passed by Additional District and Sessions Judge, Ritesh Kumar Dubey, who directed that both the accused be remanded to NIA custody till 27th June 2025.
The two accused, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, Pahalgam, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar from Hill Park, Pahalgam, were arrested by the NIA on Sunday.
This is seen as a major development and the first big breakthrough in the investigation of the terror attack that happened on 22nd April.
That tragic day saw the killing of 26 innocent people, most of whom were tourists, and 16 others were seriously injured.
Officials said that the NIA’s investigation revealed that Parvaiz and Bashir had
“knowingly harboured the three armed terrorists at a seasonal dhok (hut) at Hill Park before the attack”.
The agency also stated that both accused men had provided essential support to the terrorists, such as food, shelter, and other logistical help.

The agency said,
“The arrested accused have disclosed the identities of the three armed terrorists involved in the attack, and have also confirmed that they were Pakistani nationals affiliated to the banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).”
Further investigation revealed that the attack was well-planned and the victims were chosen deliberately.
NIA added,
“The two men had provided food, shelter and logistical support to the terrorists, who had, on the fateful afternoon, selectively killed the tourists on the basis of their religious identity, making it one of the most gruesome terrorist attacks ever.”
With the court granting NIA the remand, the agency is expected to carry out further interrogations and gather more evidence to identify the complete network behind this horrifying incident.
