The defamation case against Rahul Gandhi in Sultanpur court was postponed as lawyers attended a workshop. The next hearing is scheduled for June 2.

Sultanpur (UP): Today, On May 17, The hearing in a defamation case filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi could not take place in the Sultanpur court on Saturday.
The case was postponed because all the lawyers were attending a workshop and were not available for court proceedings.

This defamation case was filed back in 2018 by local BJP leader Vijay Mishra. The complaint was related to some alleged comments made by Rahul Gandhi during the Karnataka Assembly election campaign.
According to the complaint, Rahul Gandhi had made objectionable remarks against senior BJP leader Amit Shah, which led to the filing of this case.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Santosh Kumar Pandey, informed the media that the hearing could not be held because all lawyers had taken leave to participate in a legal workshop.

He said,
“All the lawyers remained away from work due to the workshop and hence the hearing was postponed till June 2.”
Due to the absence of legal professionals in court, the matter could not proceed as scheduled.
The court has now decided to take up the case again on June 2.
