The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a student from RIMS Ranchi in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. The investigation revealed the student’s involvement in the illegal activity.
Ranchi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained a first-year MBBS student from the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi related to the NEET-UG paper leak case. After being questioned on Wednesday, the student was taken into custody on Thursday.
Rajiv Ranjan, the Public Relations Officer of RIMS, stated,
“The student is from the 2023 batch, currently in her first year, and she is now in CBI custody. The CBI initially contacted the administration for preliminary information and later approached us again for further investigation, which led to her detention.”
Ranjan confirmed that the CBI previously reached out to the institution for additional details and assured that the administration is fully cooperative.

He added,
“We are committed to supporting the investigation and will provide any necessary information to the CBI as required. Since her detention, there haven’t been any new developments on our end,”
Additionally, on Thursday, the CBI detained four medical students from AIIMS Patna in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case.
According to CBI sources, the four accused Karan Jain, Kumar Sanu, Rahul Anand, and Chandan Singh involved in solving exam papers for the main suspect, Pankaj Singh. All suspects have been placed in CBI custody for four days.
Additionally, on July 16, the CBI apprehended two more individuals, Pankaj Kumar Singh and Raju Singh, in Patna and Hazaribagh, respectively, in connection with the case.
The NEET-UG exam, conducted on May 5, 2024, has been plagued by allegations of cheating and impersonation. The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for the exam, has faced significant criticism, sparking protests and legal actions. Consequently, the Union Health Ministry postponed the NEET-PG 2024 examination, with new dates to be announced.
The NEET-UG exam, organized by the NTA, crucial for admissions into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both government and private institutions nationwide. This year’s exam, held across 4,750 centers on May 5, saw the participation of approximately 24 lakh candidates.
This incident raised serious concerns about the integrity of the examination process, which is a crucial gateway for aspiring medical students across India. The NEET-UG examination a highly competitive test that determines admission to undergraduate medical programs in the country.
The NEET-UG paper leak case highlighted the vulnerabilities in the current examination system and has prompted calls for stricter measures and enhanced security protocols to prevent such incidents in the future. The authorities are committed to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable and that justice is served for the affected students.
