NEET-UG 2024 Paper Theft Case | Patna Court Issues Warrant Against NEET-UG Paper Leak Mastermind Sanjeev Mukhiya

Patna: The Patna Civil Court on Monday issued a warrant against Sanjeev Mukhiya, the alleged mastermind behind the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak scandal. The court directed the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) to arrest Mukhiya and also ordered the attachment and confiscation of his property if he fails to surrender or appear in court within a month.

Sanjeev Mukhiya is accused of orchestrating the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak by accommodating 25 candidates at a boys’ hostel connected to the Learn Play School in Patna’s Ramkrishna Nagar on May 4, 2024, a day before the exam. According to investigators, the candidates were allegedly provided with leaked question papers and answer sheets at the same location.

Mukhiya’s role in this scandal is part of a larger investigation into exam paper leaks in Bihar and beyond. He has also been implicated in the BPSC teacher recruitment 3.0, constable recruitment, and other paper leak cases.

Mukhiya’s alleged involvement in paper leaks dates back to 2010, but he managed to evade arrest at the time. His first arrest occurred in 2016, when he was caught for leaking a medical exam paper in Uttarakhand. However, he was granted bail within two months due to lack of evidence, allowing him to continue his activities.

In addition to his involvement in the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, Mukhiya is also accused in a disproportionate assets (DA) case registered by the Economic Offences Unit. The EOU court had previously stayed his arrest in this case but lifted the stay in December 2024, paving the way for further action against him. Despite the intensified efforts to apprehend him, Mukhiya has been evading arrest for a considerable time.

The Patna Civil Court has taken a tough stance on the matter. It issued a warrant for Mukhiya’s arrest and instructed authorities to serve a notice of attachment and confiscation of his property if he fails to comply. This step is expected to put additional pressure on the fugitive to surrender to the law.

Mukhiya’s alleged involvement in multiple paper leak scandals has raised serious concerns about the integrity of competitive examinations in Bihar and other states. His ability to operate for years, despite multiple accusations and arrests, highlights significant loopholes in the system.
