The hearing in the Neelkanth Mahadev-Jama Masjid case has been postponed to March 20. Civil Judge Senior Division Amit Kumar was on leave, preventing the proceedings from taking place. Hindu side’s lawyer Vivek Rainder confirmed the new date. The case continues to draw attention amid legal proceedings.

The hearing in the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple-Jama Masjid Intizamia Committee case did not occur on Monday due to the presiding judge’s absence, according to a lawyer.

The next hearing for this temple-mosque dispute is set for March 20.

The lawyer for the Hindu side, Vivek Rainder, stated,

“Since Civil Judge Senior Division Amit Kumar was on leave today, the hearing could not take place. The court has now scheduled March 20 as the next date,”

This matter gained attention in 2022 when Mukesh Patel, then convener of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, asserted that the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple was located at the site of the Jama Masjid Shamsi mosque and sought permission to worship there.

Previously, during a hearing on February 11, the advocate for the Jama Masjid Intizamia Committee requested a new date due to illness, prompting the court to schedule a hearing for February 19.

However, that hearing was also canceled because of a strike.

In 2022, Patel, who is the state president of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, claimed that the temple originally stood at the mosque site, a claim that the Masjid Intizamia Committee has denied.

During a hearing on December 17, Anwar Alam, the advocate for the Jama Masjid Intizamia Committee, referred to a Supreme Court order, describing the discussion as a waste of time.

Conversely, lawyers representing Neelkanth Mahadev argued that the Supreme Court’s order did not prohibit the consideration of the case’s admissibility.

To date, the government lawyer has completed their arguments, and a report from the Archaeological Department has been submitted.

Currently, the Jama Masjid Intizamia Committee is presenting its arguments, after which the lawyers for Neelkanth Mahadev Temple will present their case. Once all arguments are concluded, the court will determine the case’s eligibility for trial.
