A court in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday has handed down a rigorous 15-year imprisonment sentence to six individuals found guilty under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This case, which has been in the judicial pipeline for approximately eight years, culminated on Wednesday with a verdict that not only penalizes the convicts with incarceration but also imposes a hefty fine of Rs 1 lakh on each.
The convicts, identified as Sheshnath Yadav, Abhinanadan Chaube, Ravi Yadav, Vineet Kumar Jaiswal, Akshay Kumar Patel, and Munna Yadav, were convicted Special court Judge Purnima Pranjal and were implicated in a narcotics case registered in May 2016 at the Puramufti Police station in Kaushambi. The case, characterized by its complexity and the serious nature of the charges, was meticulously prosecuted, leading to this conclusive judgment.
Government counsel Sashank Khare provided insights into the proceedings, highlighting the court’s decision.
“Special court judge Purnima Pranjal convicted Sheshnath Yadav, Abhinanadan Chaube, Ravi Yadav, Vineet Kumar Jaiswal, Akshay Kumar Patel and Munna Yadav in an NDPS case of 2016 and sentenced them to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment,”
Khare stated, emphasizing the gravity of the offense and the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the law.
