Hyderabad: A Hyderabad court has issued a notice to Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, demanding an explanation regarding her controversial remarks about the divorce of popular South Indian actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The notice, which was issued Today, on October 10th, asks Surekha to submit her explanation by October 23, as the court begins hearing a defamation case filed against her by veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya’s father.

The case revolves around comments Surekha made, linking the divorce to political figures and the Akkineni family’s business dealings. These remarks have sparked a major controversy in the Telugu film industry, involving several high-profile actors and politicians.

Defamation Case Filed by Nagarjuna Akkineni

The legal notice follows a criminal defamation case filed by Nagarjuna Akkineni in the Nampally court under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to the complaint, Surekha’s statements were defamatory and intended to harm the public image of the Akkineni family. The case includes both criminal and civil defamation charges, seeking financial compensation for the damages caused by her remarks.

The Nampally Special Magistrate Court, which is handling the case, heard testimony from a second witness, Venkateswara, before adjourning the next hearing to October 23. The court will await Surekha’s formal response to the notice during the upcoming hearing.

Controversial Remarks Linking KTR to Naga Chaitanya-Samantha Divorce

The controversy began when Konda Surekha made public comments suggesting that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) had been involved in the personal affairs of the Akkineni family. In her statements, Surekha alleged that KTR sought inappropriate favors from the Akkineni family before the family-owned N-Convention Centre was demolished. She went further, claiming that KTR had influenced the lives of several actresses, including Samantha, and that his interference was part of the reason behind Naga Chaitanya and Samantha’s divorce.

Her inflammatory comments did not sit well with the Telugu film fraternity or political circles. Several prominent actors, including Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, and Nani, publicly condemned Surekha’s statements as “derogatory” and “baseless.” They voiced their support for the Akkineni family and called for an end to the spread of such damaging rumors.

KTR Responds, Sends Legal Notice to Surekha

In addition to Nagarjuna, KTR also responded strongly to the allegations made by Konda Surekha. He issued a legal notice against the Telangana Minister, calling her claims false and defamatory. In a public statement, KTR also urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to intervene, suggesting that Surekha should be sent to a mental health or rehabilitation center due to the nature of her comments.

Backlash and Public Outcry

The fallout from Surekha’s remarks has not only led to legal action but has also sparked a broader public outcry. Fans of the actors and political supporters alike have taken to social media, expressing outrage over the personal nature of the comments. Many are calling for accountability and are keenly awaiting the court’s decision on the defamation case.

With the next hearing scheduled for October 23, all eyes are now on Konda Surekha’s response and the potential legal consequences of her controversial remarks. The outcome of this high-profile defamation case could have lasting implications for both political and entertainment circles in Telangana.
